
Darren Morgans was appointed Chief Financial Officer of Midas Gold Corp in April 2011 and was a key contributor to listing the Company on the TSX. Mr. Morgans has overall responsibility for the financial management of the company, including its investments in its subsidiaries that own and manage the Stibnite Gold Project, as well as being heavily involved in over US$250 million of equity, convertible notes and royalty financing transactions since June 2011.
Prior to joining Midas Gold Corp., Mr. Morgans served as Corporate Secretary and Controller of Terrane Metals, which was acquired by Thompson Creek Metals Mining Company in October 2010. Mr. Morgans joined Terrane in July 2006 and assisted in growing Terrane’s market capitalization from $140 million to $700 million on its sale. Prior to Terrane, Mr. Morgans spent three years as the Manager – Exploration Accounting at Place Dome where he was responsible for the accounting of the global exploration program until Placer Dome was acquired by Barrick Gold Corp. in 2006. Before joining Placer Dome, Mr. Morgans performed consulting services to various financial institutions in England, Scotland and Canada after spending four years with PricewaterhouseCoopers in Brisbane, Australia.
Mr. Morgans received a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Queensland and is a member of the Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand and the Chartered Professional Accountants of British Columbia.
